Buddy just took over a auto dealership, which has a coral system, been empty for 6 months , lines are to be gnd start , 11 lines , can call in , but from the console sta 300, when calls come in cannot ans on handset, just speaker phone, red lights flashing below volume control, can't call using handset, just on this set, what gives, from an avaya tech , just hoping to use this system for about a year

Ground start????? :-(

Anyway, go to KEY,0,300,300 and at the 'Any specific data field (type ? for help)' prompt type spkr_on and press enter.

You will see
300
------------
SPKR_ON/OFF-Y

type N and press enter.

This command makes turns the hookswitch off so lifting the handset doesn't answer the call. The only way to answer/release the call is the press the SPKR key (handset still provides speech if off hook). Setting this to N will make the hookswitch work again.

Why only planning on using the Coral for a year? You can keep upgrading it, using all hardware, to keep up to date with new features etc. Then migrate to Coral Sea Softwitch using all existing hardware. Save yourself bucketloads in cash and keep up to date.

do you do need the sau do do this ,or can you do it from the console or a programing phone?as for the lines were gnd start before so we just put them back in too make & receive calls, customer just wants to make it simple, an use everything in place

Thanks

All programming is done via terminal session (Procomm, Hyperterminal etc). Only features (call forward etc) can be done from the phone (with a few exceptions, Attendant can do a lot more but not this setting).

SAU is a licence dongle. It authorizes purchasable features - system size, QSIG, CTI etc. It needs to stay plugged into the MCP/MEX at all times.

Plug laptop into KB0 on front of MCP/MEX anduse Procomm with standard 9600/N/8/1 settings.

Thanks, finally got in with a null adapter, now just trying to figure out system, just want to do a display of system ports, some stations ,you can ID from console when calling to it, other just say called sta 300 instead of station ID,
saw PLIS but could not tell what was in the system ports

Have a look here for some FAQs.

CLIS - Card LISt, lists all cards in the system
PLIS - Port LISt, lists all ports on cards
NPL - Numebering PLan
FEAT - FEATures, list/activate/cancel features like call forward
KEY - KEYset settings
SLT - SLT settings
COS - Class Of Service
TOLL - TOLL barring
LCR - Least Cost Routing

When you say Station ID, do you mean name? If you are on a Keyset and receive a call you'll see the calling party xtn number, but if it has a named programmed (in PLIS) you'll only see it's name. You can toggle this display if you have code 128 on your button (temp toggle only). Or in v15.85 you can permanently display both name & number.

Thanks for the list
no on some of the station you do see the number ( no name ) who is calling, on other no name or number

If you don't have a name or number then there isn't a number on that port. The phone will still work perfectly as all programming is on the port, not the number.

Do a PLIS for all cards. Find xtn cards (xSLS, xSFT, xSDT) and find ports that don't have numbers on. Then in NPL add numbers to all those ports. Then you'll be able to find out what port they're on.
