How often should Corporate Edition update?

We don't normally use Symantec AV, but one of our satellite offices bought it and now I'm having trouble getting it to update !! When I checked just now, the version was 12/13/2006 - which to me seems out of date - I ran live update but it didn't change. I checked the version at:

According to that, there's two updtes, daily and weekly. From what I can understand, the daily one is for Mac's, Handhelds and SystemWorks (not too sure what that is) and the weekly one is for all others - including Corporate Edition. Does this mean that the virus definitions are only updated once a week? Surely not? We normally use OfficeScan from TrendMicro and this updates on average about twice per day - so once a week doesn't really make me feel like the clients are ever fully protected.

And followed the instructions there, and sure enough my version has now updated to 12/18/2006 - so does this mean that Live Update isn't downloading the updates properly? I've also looked in the LiveUpdate Admin utility, and there are some errors there that say the retrieve was aborted, but doesn't say why. It just says to try running it through the interface. As I said, running it manually throuhg the interface was successful (the log says it was successful also) but the virus definitions didn't update. Does all this make sense? Anybody have any ideas what's going on here?

I have seen it vary from daily to once a week....lately it seems to be at least every other day, usually every day...

You can configure it to check for updates on whatever schedule you want through Symantec System Center
