I was wondering if I would experience a massive performance hit on the following server config:

Apache 1.3.26 with the following mods on:

core
access
actions
alias
asis
auth
autoindex
cgi
dir
env
imap
include
config
mime
negotiation
php4
setenvif
status
userdir

Basically would a PIII 800mhz with 512MB ram and a USCSI 160 18GB HD be able to handle serving ONLY static content be able to handle 8 or 9 Mbits, if the server was only doing http serving on linux redhat 7.2?

Thanks

Hmmmmmmmmmmm

It depends. i find these to be the three main factors:

Is it a dedicated server (i.e. web only or email only etc)?

about how many hits a day? (0 - 250, 250 - 500 500-1000, 1000+)?

what kind of connection is it (ADSL, ISDN , dial-up, leased line?)
