Hi,

In task manager I have "Mem Usage" and "VM Size"

Can I just add them both up to get the total memory my application is using? One of my excell sessios is using 425,232k Mem usage and 401,892k VM size. Is that like 825,000k total?

Can someone explain in very simple terms how this works (i.e. the meaning)?

Thanks,

Chris

You have got this correct.

The VM is used for the portion of the app that will not fit into memory space and is paged off to the HD.

So as you surmised, the mem + the VM totals the amount of space required.

But only the Mem portion actually is consuming RAM. The VM portion is on you HD in the VM space.
