How much does my UPS weigh?

Hi,

I have an APC SmartUPS 650 (it's similar to the 620 one currently showing on their web site), supporting a standard PC.

I am buying/having built a compact PC workstation on which the CPU/UPS would sit on the lower shelf.

So I think perhaps I should check that this shelf is strong enough to support the UPS because it seems incredibly heavy to me (I have to ask someone else to carry it for me!). How much does it weight - even roughly? Will a standard shelf designed for a CPU (usually made out of plastic covered chipboard attached to a metal or wood frame) be able to take its weight?

Can you assist me?

Regards,
Jay/UK

A 650 weighs about 15 kg, maybe 17. A normal shelf should be able to support it, it is no more than a dozen of books.

However, be careful if it falls, it can make high damage to your feet :) but also damage itself in a dangerous way.

Sorry, I have to correct myself. I got the data today: A 475 VA (APC) weighs 6 kg, so I guess that a 650 must not exceed 10 kg.
