Hi -

I'm a newbie - hope one of you more experienced folks has an answer for this -

I'm creating a home page that has a looping slideshow running constantly. What I'd like to do next is create menu buttons that, when you mouseover, they bloom into flowers (I know, too cute) with a little chime sound.
The slideshow works fine. I've created my menu buttons & my little blooming mouseover movie, & started putting them on layers. I've got asp that directs the movie to play on mouseover, and a sound is in the "over" section of the button timeline. What's happening so far is, when the movie loads, the slideshow starts (which I want) & the flower blooms (which I don't want); when I mouseover the flower blooms again & the sound plays (good), but the slideshow starts over (bad). (Should I have the slideshow be an independent movie?) Also, once the flower movie plays the button just disappears until I take the mouse off, and I want the last frame of the flower movie to stay until I take the mouse off, and then run the movie backwards to the button start instance (which I think I've figured out how to do).
I know I'm being *very* ambitious for such a beginner, but it seems like there should be a simple solution for this... Suggestions for solutions to *any* part of this would be welcome. I will be continuing to try to figure it out... If I do I'll post again. :)

Nice challenge if you're the beginner you say you are! And a bit of confusion... On my part at least.
Maybe you'd be better off posting a link to your present .fla, a picture is sometimes worth a thousand words!
You could allways e-mail it to me (e-mail available if you hit my handle), but rushing off soon, and won't be back before tomorrow night!

Thank you!!!
I don't know what I was thinking - I just tried to send an .swf to you - way too big -
I'll upload it & send you a link - hope I'm not too late -
BTW - I must have done something I don't remember since last night & now the flower only "plays" when the page loads... grrrrr....

I figured it out!!!!

I created a multiple-frame movie clip instance out of the slide show by "symbol editing" the first picture instance and adding the other pix and effects as I had done on the main stage (which is what I should have done in the first place :D), created a layer for it on the main stage, inserted it, and aligned it. Then I created another multiple-frame movie clip instance by editing the first symbol of the "flower movie" and adding the other 18 frames. I then opened up my button in symbol editing mode and inserted the flower movie clip instance in the "over" state of the button; inserted action script to make a sound play on mouseover, created a layer for the button on the main stage, inserted and aligned it, tested the movie, and did a little victory dance. :)

Good for you!
But I'm sure you'll soon have other questions coming!

We'll be here!
