How many times does MD scan objects in Traffic Measurement?

The printout for some objects that are measured contain the heading Traff(ic).
Alex explains this Traff(ic) as "the number of seizures/number of scans". In tis formula Seizures are "scans that "find" the object busy" .

Does anybody know how many scans the MD110 executes in a certain period of time?

One call of 60 seconds for one extension gave a traff value of 0.05 in a 15 minute printout.
The same did a call of 30 seconds.
That is why I 'm asking.

traff is not "traffic" but the value of erlang .

If one extension is talking 30 minutes this equals 0,5 erlang (traff) if mesurement is on that extension is for one hour .
Erlang mesured on it equals 1,0 means it has been aktive
the whole mesurement period.

If I apply your view on my experience in the quote, the printout for the two situations above should be:

60 seconds call/15 minutes> traff= 0.07
30 seconds call/15 minutes> traff= 0.03
(in 2 digits decimal)

unless the MD is rounding up 0.03 to 0.05 and 0.07 to 0.05

you must see traffic recording as a "rough" guiding tool. The MD110 is not rounding any values, it just "scans" the line. if it is busy it will increment the scancount, and each 15 minutes this scancount will be reset to zero and the erlang is calculated for the past 15 minutes. don't know for external lines but for example for operators the scantime is each 8 seconds. this means that if the operator is busy between 2 scans the MD110 will not see this and will give an erlang of 0!!! Like I said, traffic recording is not a precision tool, it will only give you a rough idea about the object you're measuring.

Anyway i dont think calls under and around 60 seconds is the way to test the correctness of TR .

I'm only guessing as i cant find any description of the
calculating in TMM and counters in TMR :
But i have a feeling that the counters in tmr is 15/30/60 secs or something , theese counters gets their data
from their object programs like ELP6 SL60 and so on.
This might explain the results in your test .

And that it is a minimum value of a call aswell in
coordination with e.g DIST parameter for routes .
I don't think they are counted if a trunk call is shorter
than the dist time .

So a test call clocked at a wristwatch for 60 secs
might as well be 59 or 61 in the md due to signalling .

Note This is just some thoughts , not facts !

Test with longer calls and end the call 1-2 secs after it has passed the time test . Eg a 120 secs call hang up after 121-122 secs so it dont get shorter measured .

Whosrdaddy,

How do u know the scantime for operators is 8 seconds?

Im know Traff. Measurement is a tool to reveal trends, and not a precision tool.

"Alex" is speaking about scans, but does not mention any interval.
If you have your information -- 8 second interval -- from official Ericsson documentation, where can I get it?

Hi summerdike,

I know this because I treated the (same) complaint for a customer. after digging into plex code I found out that the scantime for "operator busy" was 8 seconds. don't checked if this is for all TR objects the same, it really depends on the unit the object is in...

Pitty.

As far as I know, Ericsson is not publishing any Plex related info anymore.

summerdike,
this is partly true, all Fieldtrial service partners have access to plexcode.
