A simple question - and I know it's very open-ended! We're looking at implementing a Citrix farm for about 250 - 300 users (who will be running Cognos Finance). We're going down the route of having lots of smaller servers as opposed to a few big boxes. However, we can't find any documentation as to how many sessions per box we should budget on - anyone know of any white papers or similar which contain advice? Alternatively, if anyone has experience and abides by their own rules, please let me know...! Thanks in advance - Paul

You should make a test server, that is your route to succes.

You probably don´t know which server you are going for, so making a test server is even more difficult.

I don´t know the program that your users are going to run, but you should examin it. Find out how much memory it uses for it´s processes. Find out if it use a lot of CPUpower or RAM. Find out if it writes a lot to the disks.
ehrn you know this you can start looking for a server that is good at what you need.

I am running a GIS program. and I found out that I needed 120 MB RAM for each user, and I found out that 5 users could beat up my test server with 1 CPU at 700Mhz.
So I made my serves for 10 users each, with 2 CPU at 1000 Mhz, and 1.7 GB RAM.

First step is to get a test server, and se what happens with 5-10-20 users.
Good luck
