I have about 300 Networked printers that used to run on 4 Win2k Boxes for load balancing and redundancy. Now those boxes are going to be end of lifed and I'm tasked with building a new infastructure for our printing environment. Do you have any thoughts on what you think is the best plan as far as number of servers, I don't really want 4, perferably 2 at the most. What about VM sessions as printservers? Thanks

virtual servers should work fine assuming you have the bandwidth and brawn to back it up. I don't know of a max # of printers per server.. I guess it would depend on the jobs you are sending to them (also).

But I mean if you are clustering servers... but its all on that one box... and it dies... you are not in good shape. BUT I could see you running two boxes running virtual server with a cluster of 4 or 6 print servers.

also, a bunch of docs that may help
