I'm trying to determine if a credit card reader connected to a 6-button partner phone (no display) Aux port can access, and hunt, more than 4 outside lines.

One additional unrelated question: Can an outside line be set to allow more than one extension to gain access simultaneously, by just pressing the line button?

Thanks for any help.

I'm pretty sure the AUX jack just follows the auto line selection programming for that phone. You try programming the auto line selection for that ext. using a larger phone, butI'm not sure how that would effect the the actual 6 button phone when it goes off hook.
Automatic extension privacy programming should allow you to choose whether you want to allow others to pick up on a call in progress or have it remain private.

I haven't worked with a Euro-I 6 button phone for a while, but I don't believe it comes with an Aux jack.

I'm not sure I understand the 2nd part of your question, but let me take a stab at it. There is a privacy feature that allows only 1 person to access a line, but you can disable it to allow more than 1 person to access telephone lines.

(How close was I?)

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

6 button Euro I's have the Aux jack, the Euro II's with the display do not.

The CC reader will only be able to access the lines that the 6-button set can. Even if you assign more than 4 lines to the extension, it will only be able to directly access the 1st 4. You could pool the system, and make that a pool access extension, but that could make it more diffulcult for the phone user.

Privacy is a per-extension feature, not a per-line feature. So you can not have, say, lines 1-3 private and line 4 a non-private free for all. You could have Ext. 10 and 11 private, and Ext. 12 non-private, but that would mean Ext. 10 and 11 could pickup on ANY line that Ext. 12 is using, but Ext. 12 cannot pickup on anything that Ext. 10 and 11 are using.

Back to the books for me. [purpleface]

Thanks for the info. Very clear. A bit disapointing, but I can work around it, I think.
