How many IP addresses do I have? 2

Hi all I have a network that uses a 255.255.254.000 subnet mask, my server has an address pool set up to use 10.166.196.1 to 10.166.196.254 ( with resevations for static devices)I am running out of addresses I have read that a sub mask of 254 gives me 512 addresses. If this is so what will the IP addresses be? will they be 10.166.197.1 to 10.166.197.254 ? or what and how do I get the server to allow this?

Thanks for your link to the calculator, I therefore assume that I have 510 possible hosts? and that my previous thoughts about the ip addresses are correct?

Your network will have 510 usable IP addresses...the network address would be 10.166.196.0, usable IP addresses are 10.166.196.1 through 10.166.197.254, broadcast for the subnet is 10.166.197.255. Your beginning address you thought is wrong---note the third octet is different for beginning and end. 10.166.196.1 through 10.166.197.254, NOT 10.166.197.1 through 10.166.197.254 like you thought.
