I will get back to you on this Jenny. Glad to see you are looking into Flash. It is an awesome program and with your tenacious approach to web design...you will do very well. Ya' Gotta Love It!X-)
You can also put a GET FLASH button on your site. THey can download the player for free. Over 56k its takes about 15 minutes, over a fast connection only a few seconds.
You actually do not need the flash button if you allow Flash publish settings to create the html file for you. It will auto detect the flash player and suggest a download if it is not found. This eliminates the need for a button that says..."if you can't see this you need Flash" or whatever. Ya' Gotta Love It!X-)
yes...just like HTML sites...it is dependant upon the users connection. One thing Flash does which can be an advantage or a disadvantage... Flash normally loads the entire site right up front and can take 2 or 3 minutes depending on file size. However....once everything loads there is no more loading unless you call another movie. You click a button and you are there instantly.
If you are just using Flash with your HTML site and not planning on doing straight Flash...then this should not even concern you for the most part. Ya' Gotta Love It!X-)
Hey, Flash is brill so you wanna get designing! Almost all of my site is done in Flash and it comes to a grand total of 30k. If you're careful a 20 page site can be sqeezed into as little as 60K without loosing it's quality. Just remember not to use big JPGs and you're laughing! My site takes about 6 secs to load on a 56K modem, then the whole lot is viewable. If your interested it's at
I stuck it up last nite so it's not totally finished, but it gives you an idea of what can be done with Flash.
Oh yeh, but remember, using a lot of Alpha (fading in and out etc) can cause a site to run slowly on the older computers so people might not want to stick around as it jerks through the tweens! ).
