Folks,
After 5 years I finally had the finances to upgrade from an AMD K6-2 running Win98SE to a 3GHz Intel, 1Gig Ram and running XP Pro (got it Friday) so I am an XP newbie. I've searched through this forum, the net and XP's Help File but I haven't found the answer. Q: I like to have a bunch of TT Fonts "ready at hand" and was wondering, what is the practical upper limit (if any) that XP Pro has as to the number of installed fonts?

If this has already been asked and answered, I apologize for the redundency.

Thanks for any insight.

Limitations in previous operating systems was due to the limitations on the size of the Registry (I believe). As there is no such limitation on the Registry size in XP, I therefore believe the only limitation may be the size of your hardrive(s).

Just remember: the computer checks all those fonts on boot-up. The more you have, the longer the boot!

I know that Win98 had a limit of "about 600" fonts and Win2000 "about 1000" so I would assume that Xp would be about the same. IMHO, unless you're professional designer who creates corporate logos and corporate text, I can't see where anyone would need that many fonts.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!
