Im wondering, in a linux server, how many files are considered too much to be placed in a single folder? For example, if I decide to store all my videos in one single folder, when will I start having performance issues, if any?

Any advice in this will be helpfull !!

Uhhhh, I'm a little iffy, but I'll start the responses...

Performance itself shouldn't degrade as you reach the number of files permissible by the partition type. You simply have file 'inodes' or you don't. To my knowledge performance shouldn't change.

Did some googling...
