How many Debian CD-images

Hallo Debian fans,

can anybody tell me how many Debian cd-images (and which ones - presumably the first two or three) I need to download to install the core system plus Desktop.

You can't buy Distributions here in Uganda and downloading too many CD-images is irresponsible here where the connection is soooooooooooo slow.

First, read this: as there is not enough information in your query to give you a definitive answer:

Specifically, you didn't say what hardware architecture you are running.

I would then recommend one of the following, depending on your architecture:

http://www.debian.org/CD/http-ftp/#stable

If you download the CD image, it will probably be about 650MB, but you should only have to download it once. It would be wise to use a tool that will restart upon an error attempt, such as aria or even wget from Linux as opposed to your browser's download.

You should also consider choosing a download mirror close to your location.
