How many days/hours in a week?

As I was solving a problem from Risk management in expected value calculation, I was a little surprised to know that the author used 7 days in a week.

How many days/ hours should we assume in a week in Time/Cost/Risk management questions, if the number of days/ hours is not specifically given? Is there any PMI directive on this?

I have not seen anything from PMI on this. I would expect it would depend on the project itself, whether it was a regular workday/workweek situation, 24x365, etc.

I agree with Elizabeth. It also depends on the resources (and therefore costs) associated with the task or tasks that may be at risk. A human resource should not typically be scheduled for more than a 5 day week, although we all know what happens in extraordinary circumstances. A non-human resource could easily be much more than that.
