Hello,
Excel 2010

I have a column that has a date mm/dd/yyyy
I need to insert a column (Timeline Status) that shows how many days from today to that date. If today is after that date I want a negative balance in red.

Date due 10/01/2011
Today is 10/06/2011
Timeline Status -5 days (in red)

thanks

hi,

It is the mathematical difference, that simple!

Use Conditional Foramtting to shade your values as required.

Yes, I tried

=H2-TODAY()

H2 being the cell that has the date and it isnt working

Format your formula cell as a number and your answer will be accurate using the =H2-Today() formula.

Then Conditionally format that same cell as color red for value less than zero.

Hi,

You can also go into the Format Cells dialog box and select the red choice for negative numbers in the lower right.

HTH,

Best,
