In determining the number of open cursors at any given time I have come accross two methods that yeild different resluts.
1) Select value from SYS.V_$SYSSTAT where Name='opened cursors current'
- yields 451
2) Select count(*) from sys.v_$open_cursor
- yeilds 397
What is the difference between these two? The best theory I have now is that sys.v_$open_cursor is hiding some open cursors from me. Can anyone confirm or debunk this?
