I just purchased a CA from godaddy.com. They said that if I used a sub-domain mysub.mysite.com and a domain I needed two CAs.

Is this true?

I rather ask here than to believe a sales rep on a 4x4 cubical somewhere in little-dot-ville with little or no knowledge of how these things really work.

If I need to buy a CA for each sub I intend to use, then be it.

Thank you all in advance!

You mean you bought SSL certs? A CA would be you want to create your own certs.

You ( I believe) will need 2. The CERTS are per distinct web site, not per site or domain. So if I had 5 web sites on one server (even in the same domain) I would need 5 CERTS.

OK, I have:

mail.mydomain.com (I am planning on using outlook over https)
track.mydomain.com and

That said and based on your answer, I need three certs. Correct?

Thanks

yes, one per site. You might install it on multiple servers in the case of clustering or load balancing, but it is one per distinct sitename.
