Hello,

I am very good at Crystal Reports. But I do not have knowledge on Enterprise and I was asked by manager that how much time will takes to install CE and ready for work on that.

Initially we got CD to install in stand alone machine, later we are going to install in server. But either way can some give me best estimated time will take for installation.

I am also giving details about system configurations:

desktop is XP pro. (Recently we moved from NT to XP)
SQL Server 7 is database.
Looks like I should have IIS on my stand alone mechine.

Apart from above stated do I need anything more? Do I get any problem with about configurations?

I am badly looking for answers from you guys, please help me.

Thanks in advance.

Raj.

It's fast, probably 10-20 minutes to have it up and running based on no clustering being used, and using the defaults for everything (which should be fine).

Raj, you're in your usual mode of asking questions without supplying technical information, this and most things involving software are version dependent.

If it's CE 8.5 or CE 9, it's quick.

Keep in mind that CE will install it's the MS SQL Server engine on the CE server, and I suggest that you go with that (again, default), not point it at your SQL Server database.

Just make sure that you have IIS installed first.

Hello Synapsevampire,

I am going to install CE 9 version.

In your post you said CE will install automatically "MS SQL Server engine" is this same as "ASP" (Automated Process Scheduler)? If not please let me know what is the difference between two.

Thanks,
Rajani.

I did my first install a month ago of CE 9 Pro on a beefy server running Win 2003 and IIS 6. The install was as painless as I could hope. Within 30 mins I had a fully functional CE environment serving up reports to the web interface. Within a couple of hours I'd set up the email and other destinations with no trouble and been playing ever since.

Unfortunately, the install is the simple part. Dealing with all the process changes needed to support a tool this big and functional is the real challenge. Good luck!

CE requires a database for it's objects for scheduling, reports, etc.

The default is SQL Server, which comes with the product.
