How long does the PIX take to put changes into effect? 1

Hi all,

I am not sure if this is normal but I am using ASDM on my PIX 515E and it seems like my pix takes over 5-7 minutes to put changes that I make into effect. Whenever I make a change I click on "Save Running Configuration to Flash" but usually nothing happens. I have to wait quite a while before I can test my new settings.

Can anyone advise me as to what is going on?

Really depends on the type of change. Is it an access-list, crypto or connection based change? or other?

It is a connection based change.

Like a static translation or NAT? If it takes a while it is probably because a connection or translation already existed. So once the connection or translation times out the change will take effect. You can also do a "clear local xxx.xx.xxx.xxx" for the host you are changing.
