I have the SmartCertify Cousrwork for MCSE 2000.

How long did it take you all to get your MCSE, those that bought the cd's/on-line course? I'm moving at a slow rate. I almost want to say the heck with this and get my MBA.

[smarty] Thanks guys and gals!!

How long is a piece of string? Depends on how quickly you learn technical stuff, how devoted you are, how much time you spend learning....

MCSE took me 2.5 years with a year off in the middle cos you can't work, revise and bring up a baby. The upgrade to MCSE 2000 took me 300 hours of revision and total 100% dedication.

If you want to be an MCSE and want it done quickly, you are in the wrong business.

I finished MCSE (NT) in a little under a year, but I had been working with NT for about 5 years already and was working in an enterprise environment which had already exposed me to everything I was studying. MCSE 2000 upgrade took me about 3 monthes of study time and again I had already had plenty of hands on experience. You just have to get motivated and get hands on experience, you learn it alot quicker if you actually do something rather than just read about it.

Depends on where you're start from also. Do you have an MCP or are you starting from scratch. This last January, Microsoft released course-ware for the new MCSA. I have an MCP in W2K, and have passed two courses. With the MCSA you need to pass four courses. With the MCSE, you need to pass seven. The MCSA was a good move on Microsofts part. I'm shooting for the MCSA, and then I'm going to take a break. I'm getting ready to take the third test soon. It's taking me a while because I work 45 hours a week, and have a business on the side that I help my wife with. Good luck. "It is never too late to learn what is always necessary to know".
