Hello

I have an excel file which contain export specifications for an access database. There is no data just the field names and start position and width of each field.

Field Name Start Width
Field1 1 50
Field2 51 2
Field3 53 5
Field4 58 12

I want to import these specifications into an access table. I am trying to avoid typing each field name and the field size one by one.

Any advice would be helpful.Cheers

There are a couple hidden tables in Access that are used to store the import/export specs. You can see these if you have turned the hidden tables to display.

One table is the "header" and the other has the column information. You can't edit in the datasheet of the table. You can edit the tables with code and I believe in a query. You might want to review the table structures to determine the field usage. You may be able to set up the Excel files in a way that allows you to copy and paste into the table.
