I installed RedHat 7 and i have some problems:

1. Whenever i try to open video my netscape 4.75 showing an error that "The page you're viewing has information that requires a borwser 'plug-in' which is available from netscape's plug-in finder get the plug in"

prob: how do i know the plug-in name its asking for?

2. I want to setup a "PHILIPS SAA7111WP" video card, but i don't have any book or material to help me that how i can setup my video card at linux 7.

Any sourcefull website for video setup at RedHat linux 7 ?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

1. Not all plugins that are available for windoze are available for Linux, so sometimes the plugin-finder returns no results. You can usually get round most problems by using helper apps. ie. for 'real' content, install realplay for Linux and set up netscape to use realplay for the real mime types.

2. I assume that your video card must be working to some extent to use Netscape, can you give us more details on the problem(s)?

Cheers

1st of all thank u.

Probs:
1.I want to know that wat is the command for video card configuration in RedHat 7 ?
2. Where from I can download RealPlayer for linux?

I installed OPTI sound card and its working fine. But i think Linux is not able to work with multimedia yet. because whenever i try to listen any music with XMMS or any cd-player the sound is not clear its disturb and so much destortion in the music.

i have IBM PC SERVER 75Mhz 64MB RAM 3GB HDD.

Hi,

1. First of all gather as much info as you can about your hardware (video card, monitor, mouse) and then run the following command:

XFree86 -configure

This creates a new XF86Config-4 file (XF86Config if your XFree installation is less than version 4) in /etc/X11/
So if you have any graphical interface working at all back up thus file.

Check out this link before you start.....

2. Realplay for linux can be found at:

Select unix as your OS and follow the instructions to install.

Lastly Linux works with multimedia fine ;o) try the sndconfig command (as root) to see if you can improve your sound quality.

Good Luck

1. I configured my X server, mouse, monitor, every thing is working fine. I configured my sound card correctly and i can hear the sample sound very clearly and fine with "sndconfig" command. But when i m running XMMS only 1 or 2 seconds music is running fine and then starts destortion.

2. I downloaded realplayer "rp8_linux_alpha_rh62_cs1.bin" and then i execute the command "chmod u+x rp8_linux_alpha_rh62_cs1.bin" and then execute "rp8_linux_alpha_rh62_cs1.bin" nothing happend any-thing. How i install this realplayer at my RedHat Linux 7 ?

3. Is RedHat has any command for Video Card configuration?

Please help.
