How i can switch the actif node for group ressource. 1

Hi

I'm new with clustering windows 2003.

I have a cluster (2 x dl380 + san msa1000) in actif/passif mode, i think).For technical reason, application and batch file run only on node1, i check and there is a week the cluster switch active node for node2 for group ressources. I check node1 for the problem i repaired this and restart the node1. The preferred node for the group ressource was not checked, i do it for Node1. Now, i want switch back the active node for node1 as it was before.

How i can do with a minimum impact for the user.

Ok i only stop the node2 and the node1 take the ownership of the group of the ressource.

You don't have to stop node2.

When you right-click the resource group, you want to move, you have the option "Move group".

The resource group goes offline, and will be back online on the node you select. If only one other node is available, you cannot select a node.

Maybe i have a another question for you. How i can receive warning when the owner or active node change for the group of ressources. When the group ownership was change, i don't receive any message.

I see it when i try rename directory and try get file open on node maybe it's not a good manner for check the the ownership or the active node.

note:
in the properties of the resource, you can specify,
the order of priority of nodes in which the process will run.

Regard alert, I don't remember if exist some flags to notify you somethong, however, you can define a "Generic application" that you post depending from all other in the group, and inside it (a .cmd file) you put anything you want: take note of the server on which is running
(hostname command), and send an e-mail (using freeware
program to send mail from comman line, ecc)

This "Generic application", will run every time the group
goes on line, also at the faillover.
In this application,uncheck the flag "Affect the group":

this means:

don't put the group off line if your program fails !

Thanks a lot for this information. I get a script for monitor active ressource for Node cluster. My need is only get status change of the cluster once a day. But your solution is much better because it's run only when the change of ressources group occur and is immediate.

I will check this.

to receive daily information about a service is running
on a node, you can (extra Cluster), build a "Scheduled Task",
thar runs daily, and launch a your cmd in which you execute
some as

net start | findstr "MySQL"
if errorlevel ....
mail...
