how hard is flash? good books?

I'm thinking about taking up a contract for a client, but I don't know how much to charge or what kind of time-frame I'm working with.
I have a decent graphical eye (not perfect, yet!), and have been using dreamweaver for last couple years. The hardest part would be to learn the interface to make it look like my rough draft on paper and pencil.

how long would it take a newbie to create a show like this:

versus a person that has done it 4-5 times already?

What are some good books or publishers of flash books?

Any input would be especially helpful!

The best book I've found (and currently reading) is
Macromedia Flash MX
Action Scripting
Training from the Source.

On Sale price at Amazon.com = Price $ 31.49

Now, this book won't teach you Flash per say, but ActionScripting which is highly utilized with flash mx and a must to know.

Swish was good for me at first. I liked it and it works great! But if you are going to do it, may as well learn what it is all about and get the full use out of Flash.

I learned quite a bit from the Flash Hands-On-Training books at

They are written so even I can understand them! I am not very adept at "book learnin", so they really are good I think.

Now of course, no disrespect to Swish! I still use it too.
