Hi, my website has an index page which all other pages are shown through with a php include tag. Will this affect how google searches through my site as it isn't a real link? Would it improve by including a link to a sitemap on this index page?

Thanks

Brilliant, thanks. A sitemap is generally a good idea though right? in case some of the pages aren't accessible by text links? I have some images which are links you see

Well all the pages should be accessible by text links. If they aren't then you really should address that.

Images are no problem. The links will still be followed.

The only links that can't be followed are those generated by javascript and other client side things such as Flash (although Google can access content within Flash files so may follow links - whole other story though)

A sitemap can be useful for, and here is the critical thing, your users.

That's the only real thing to remember - build a site for your users and consider how they will navigate and use the site.
If you do that, you won't go far wrong.
