Hi,

I write cognition experiments in Flash and post them on the Web (vacognition.wjh.harvard.edu) in order to collect data from large numbers of volunteers. Does anybody have any sense as to how good the timing is in Flash? That is, when it says 12 frames per second, that should mean one frame every 50 ms. How close is it to that 50 ms for the average end user? within 5ms? Within 20 ms? If it's off, which direction is it off?

This makes a big difference for many types of experiments.

Thanks. Josh

Oh, and please participate in the experiments. We need volunteers! vacognition.wjh.harvard.edu

Flash player tries to play at 12 fps, but there's no guarantee if it actually plays at that. Every machine and environment is different so you should assume frame rate is different on every machine and environment.
