I am new to Cognos IWR world I have a question regarding the data that the reports on IWR upfront portal provide.

I have seen that when the reports are generated using the bursting process then the are many files created in excel and pdf format so the users who view the reports actually do not go against the database to get the reports the but simpley get linked to the generated excel or pdf files....

is there any way that we can congifure IWR so that when a user logs in to the repeort...the report is generated on demand ( with database connction ) and not from flat bursted files ?

The reason I want to know this from cognos guru's is due to the fact that we have many users and many reports which belong to different departments on one server ...and by bursting the reports and producing flat file is taking too much time so we are thinking if we can provide the reports with a database connection so that users can go and get the report on demand any time in place of waiting for the burst process to get completed.....

Upfront and IWR were designed to allow running of reports on demand, bursting is just an additional feature.
Use IWR Report Administrator to publish your IWR reports to Upfront, then use Access Manager to define what Database Signon each of the users will utilize.

I am what I am based on the decisions I have made.
