I have been running SMS 2.0 SP3 for the last month. Everything (generally) is working great but I want my HP printers to appear within SMS. I have enabled all discovery options on the SMS server and also enable SMTP discovery with the community name PUBLIC. My HP printers (11 in total) are all running jetdirect and directly connected to their own Subnet\VLAN. My SMS server is sitting on another VLAN\Subnet (although SMS has been set up to discover over all my different subnets). I have a central printer (NT 4.0) server that runs the drivers for the printers. I have scoured the HP site but cannot find anything regarding SMS integration apart from their own Toptools application which integrates with SMS but doesnt add any printer functionality ! On the HP printers themselves I am also unable to set the SMTP community name. I have tried both directly working on the printer and also via HP Jetadmin.
Any ideas, I'm a little stuck ?
Is it possible to see the printer as a physical device from within SMS ?
What sort of collection or query would you have to create to display the printers when they are eventually discovered ?
How do I change the SMTP community name on an HP4050TN ?
