Hi world,

I'm just wondering how the networker principle works, maybe somebody can enlighten me..
When a backup is started, it builds an index file of what it is going to back up.. now, when it comes across a file that cannot be written to tape, for whatever reason, does it update the index immediately or at the end, so basically, is there a write intensive program updating the index all the time, while it is writing to tape at the same time?

Any help appreciated!
cheers

NetWorker does not build the index then backup the data. It builds the index as it does the backup, so if a file can not be written to tape it is not in the index.
