I've got a Windows 2003 server that reports two instances of a processor. But this is incorrect.
I've physically checked out the server and it only has the one CPU in it.
The processor is not a dual core processor but it is possible that the previous support bod had installed and then removed a second processor on this device.
What I need to do is to convince an external software auditor that the MSINFO32.EXE tool is misreporting the number of processors on the server.
Can anyone tell me if MSINFO32.EXE instigates a new collection every time it's ran OR does it refer to / regurgitate a list of previously installed hardware from the registry?
