Hi there,

I want to know the manner in which IIS does Domain resolution. If somebdy knows..please answer.

Thanx,
Sweta

Please clarify. If you mean how IIS can host Virtual WebSites it uses HTTP_HOST just like all other that support Virtual Websites. If you are refering to its ability to make host names from Ip addresses, I do not think it is documented but probley uses WININET.DLL or similar built in functions. If you are asking how you can get yourdom.com pointed to your server there is more involved than just IIS

Thanks samdland for your reply.I explain to you what I wanted to know.

When a request arrives the web server it resolves the url to a particular directory (web site hosted on it).So for this mapping it must be maintaining some database or text file.If it is correct then could you please tell me exactly what is that file called.

Have a nice day!!
