How does i do a standalone firmware upgrade of a 12xx ip phone

I have downloaded the new SIP firmware for the nortel 12xx ip phone. I don't want upgrade the phone thru the normal attaching to the phone system/element manager method. How can i upgrade it using TFTP or whatever in a standalone scenario.

I believe you can setup a TFTP server on a PC or something along those lines and then set the TFTP address in the phone's config utility to that TFTP address and it will upgrade. I use the free 3com TFTP for stuff like this and it seems to work fine.

if you have procomm you can use that utility for tfp as well.

Download a copy of the SIP Admin Guide from

http://www.nortel.com/support.

It gives the procedure for converting from UNIStim -> SIP and vice-versa. As stated above, you need a TFTP/HTTP server.
