hi,
my question is that how are the names translated to i have an application that searches the favorites.
and displays a particular one. if it's the one that's wanted, how would i go about launching/opening ie and going to that website.
thanks!

You may simply "Run" the .url file ...

Hope This Helps, PH.

thanks phv.

when i saved the book mark, i named it under this name:
"doug knox's xp tips and tricks" or
"top ten anti-virus reviews" and so on.
when the "save book mark" comes up, it has a different name instead of www. format. so it's saved in the favorites.
i have copied the favorites into a text file that i can query using instr function. when answered yes, i like to open an instance of ie and go to the url.

mychoice = "doug knox's xp tips and tricks"
WshShell.Run """C:\path\to\your\favorites folder\" & mychoice & ".url"""

Hope This Helps, PH.

thanks phv,
it worked great. i had some problem with the double quotes. because the favorites in the text file already had the .url in them. so i had a bit of trouble with the run command, but i got it to work.
