How do you write errors into the system error log?

Hi,

I have had some excellent responses to my queries on this subject. ( Cheers bi & Sushveer ).

I am neally there. All I need to know to tie all the responses together is :

How do I get errors into the system error log with a label like fs90_full?

I now know how to put the entries into the ODM errnotify. I suppose the question I really need answering is :

How does the error daemon activate the errnotify label e.g fs90_full?

If anyone can answer this it will enable me to complete my task.

To activate errdaemon ...after changes have made: first stop it by using /usr/lib/errstop command and start by using
/usr/lib/errdemon...
To address another query of yours: "How do I get errors into the system error log with a label like fs90_full?"
I suggest you at this juncture ...please complete the piece of work of adding error notify to odm database
and let me know the results.obviously you will get some error..that will lead us to think in new dimension...
I will work on that ....and let you know in next post...

Hi Sushveer,

Can't wait for the alternative....

I have set up my ODM and set up an entry called fs90_full worked fine.

I still can;t see how this gets trapped and then sends an e-mail.

I shall wait for your response and then I'll understand.
