Hi, I discovered Samba recently and was excited to find out that our Cobalt RaQ4 and Cobalt RaQ 550 appliances have an old copy of Samba installed. By modifying the smb.conf file, I was successful in sharing files on our local area network. Works great.
Upon searching the internet, it was brought to my attention that Samba 2.0.7 and 2.0.9 has buffer overflow problems and would allow a hacker to hijack the appliances. I immediately shut down Samba and started researching the internet for a Samba upgrade for Cobalt.
Does anyone know of a Samba upgrade for Cobalt? If it does not exist, I am willing to try to build an upgrade for Cobalt if someone could point me in the right direction on how to do it.
Thanks.
