How Do You Turn Off the Reading Pane?

How can I globally turn off the Reading Pane in Outlook 2003? I have many folders and each time I open one I have to manually turn off the Reading Pane. Of course it remains off in that one folder but it is annoying to have to do this in each folder individually.

Start outlook with the /nopreview switch.

That disables the feature and even removes the option from the view menu.
