how do you turn off .sh_history

If I don't want .sh_history created for a specific user, how do I go about disabling it?

Not sure if this would work, but you could try setting:

HISTFILE='' in .profile.

.....on reflection, probably not. Could you use the standard Bourne shell which doesn't support the history feature?
