Hello,

Anyone got any ideas how you stop Quark 4.1 or 5.0 from embedding pics. Our server at work is getting bogged down by 50-80meg quark docs (we have the pics separatley anyway) so do not need quark to stored them in the qxd file too.

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Rob

Hi, you probably use tiff images and have the preview in quark preferences set to 32 bit. Quark doesnt include the actual images but does include the rather large preview images it creates.

You can make your quark documents smaller by either using EPS format for your pictures or setting the previews to 8 or 16 bit. Using EPS format pictures will give the smallest quark docs.

I think Quark also actually embeds pictures if you paste them into the document instead of "Get Picture."

I would personally stick to using TIF files rather than EPS for most pictures as they are more versatile.

Good luck,
Charlotte
