Using Outlook 2002, and when i open outlook occasionally i get "the data file personal folders was not closed properly, this file is being checked for problems" This is fine when i am in the office and runs pretty smoothly. However when i travel and use remote access and get this feature, it can take an hour to go through. Which is very annoying. Does anyone know how to remove it and stop this?

And what else would you want it to do? Keep crashing?
The solution is a fix, and Outlook will fix it automaticcally, there is no way Outlook is going to let you in as long as the problem is there.

I take your point to an extent, however this "functionality" didnt exist in previous revisions and outlook worked reasonably well with PST files, without the need for this added feature.

Is there anyway to remove this fix? Aside from removing pst files from the outlook profile when travelling or storing them locally.....

Sorry, I don't know of any way to 'cripple' Outlook in that way.
The reason it has been put in was because of the potential loss of ALL mail due to PST corruption.
