In the list of processes there is a file called Mcshield.exe which I don't want to load up every time the computer starts but it does.

I can't terminate it. How do I stop it loading up?

thanks

this is for the mcafee antivirus. disabling this will also disable your real-time virus protection. Are you sure you want to do this?

also- if you disable this service, and you have SP2, the windows security center will always warn you that your antivirus isnt on.

I don't think you should disable it if it is part of your virus scanner, unless you intend to remove and replace the virus scan with another one.
