I have a customer who already has Contact Closure 1 setup and working on their PARTNER system. They have recently installed a second door lock/striker on another door in their office. My question is, what all do I need to do to setup the second Contact Closure? I already have a Contact Closure 2 button programmed on the receptionists phone and have a RJ45 with two pair going into the CC port on the processor, but I am uncertain with how the termination needs to happen on the striker "amp/power" box. Does the second Contact Closure come off the second pair of the RJ45? How does it need to be terminated? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There is an external Partner ACS contact closure device that allows 2 contact closures to work off the contact closure port. Do a google search for Partner ACS contact closure adjunct and you'll find it.

Here's some technical info for you. Hope this helps.

CONTACT CLOSURE ADJUNCT

-- Maximum of two contact closure device may be connected to one PARTNER ACS Communications System using the Contact Closure Adjunct (PEC: 60625).
-- A one-touch Contact Closure feature button(s) must be programmed on one, several or all PARTNER ACS System Telephones. This is the feature button that is used to control the Contact Closure device, e.g., a door opening strike-plate.
-- The customer’s electrician must supply the Contact Closure device such as a door strike-plate, contact-closure operated relay (electric motor, external signage, etc.) or a 48-volt doorbell transformer (external alert).
-- The PARTNER ACS Contact Closure Adjunct must be installed within 150 feet from the PARTNER ACS Control Unit if two contact closure devices are used or within 800 feet if only one contact closure device is used.
-- The Contact Closure Adjunct cannot be installed out-of-doors.
-- The customer’s electrician is responsible for making the wire connection (electrical wire, not phone wire) from the PARTNER ACS Contact Closure Adjunct to the contact closure device, e.g., door opening strike-plate, doorbell transformer, etc.
-- Maximum contact closure device voltages and current are:
• 30 VAC, 1 Amp
• 50 VDC, 1 Amp
-- The contact closure output from the Contact Closure Adjunct is electrically “dry”. In other words, the contact closure device that the customer’s electrician provides must provide all voltage and power.

Thanks for the feedback. After I created this thread I did some more research and determined that I would probably have to break down and buy the Contact Closure Adjunct. It seems like it's easiest way to get it setup/configured. Thanks again!

It is the only way! No one else makes the contact closure adjunct unit except Avaya...

I wonder how Avaya plans to offer this feature on the Partner IPO? Since the IPO control unit has no port for this device.

....JIM....

There is a port on the back of the IP500 V2 that supports 2 contact closure connections.
