I tried reading the instruction, but I don't get it...:( Thanks in advance! -^^-

Lolz, sry, I just started yesterday...:)
Um, I mean like making the host keep running in the background instead of turning off when you turn off the console window...and is there a way to make it run even when the computer's off? Thank you!

Console window... I suppose you're using Windows. Apache 2 has a new service manahger for windows, that handles Apache and puts a small icon in the systray, I think this could solve that problem.
And to make it run when the computer is off, no, there is no way to do that. //Daniel

:( It didn't put any icon in the system tray when I installed it..:( ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

You have to turn it on first. Start -> Programs -> Apache Group -> Apache -> Start Apache or something like that. It was quite some time since I used Apache on my Windows system. //Daniel

It's turned on right now, but it's still not on the system tray... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The systray manager was introduced in Apache 2, if you download and install Apache 2.0.40 you should get it. //Daniel

Ohhh I see...where can I get that? ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Just a note though, if you want to run a productional server, I suggest you get a more stable OS. I used to host my sites on a Windows 98 computer, but it crashed too often so I decided to get Red Hat Linux instead. I think it's much more stable and better overall than Windows 98. //Daniel

It's very stable on Win2000 Pro and XP Home. I had the same trouble with 98 - kept dying and I had to reboot every day. Newposter

Oh I see...:( I'm not sure because I've never tried Lineux before, and I heard that Window XP crashes too often and has a lot of trouble...I think I'll just keep it on my Win 98...thanks for the tips though! -^^-
Um, I finally got the v.2.0.40, and it has the service manager thing in the system tray, but when I put my mouse over it it says No services installed, and if I turn my console window off, it turns off too even though the service manager is in the system tray...:(

Try Windows 2000 Professional. That is what I am hosting on and I never have any trouble. Let's put it this way, if it weren't for lightening, I'd never shut it down. I've even tried to crash this puppy and I can't (I can get it to run slower than molassas in January, but it won't crash). Windows 98 is ok for playing games and stuff, but I recomend 2Kpro for hosting websites(if you want to stick with Windows). I've had mine running for about 2 weeks now, and I only HAD to restart because I installed Service Pack 3.
NOTE: if you are going to get 2000, make sure you have at least 256MB RAM. It says you can run it with 128MB, and it does, but it is so slow and tends to lock up. After a start up, my PC uses about 140MB RAM (yes, I have lots of things running). I have 512MB and never used it all, but it seems to "like" using more than 128MB and runs better with 256MB +. Good luck!
