how do you seperate colors/values?

I'm trying to make multi-colored silk screen print from a photograph I've scanned, I've heard the best way to seperate colors is through image ready. Is this true? If it is how do you do it?

I may not understand exactly what you want to do with the picture but imageready is pretty much just an animation program.

You mighthave better luck in Photoshop playing around with the magic wand tool and the layer adjustment features.
