We are currently working for our client (Car industry) on LPWAN technologies and he is asking us which technologies are likely to become "standards" for LPWAN.
We have a good vision on significant players today (LoRA, Sigfox, 3GPP) but we lack vision for the future.

How do you see this market segment evolve in the next 5-10 years?
Which technologies should our client "bet" on (LoRa, Sigfox, Weightless/N-wave, Ingenu/RPMA, Qowisio, 3GPP tech: LTE-MTC,4G LTE, 5G, Narrow-band Iot)?

Many thanks in advance for your help with this matter.

In ten years .... Probably all of them

Personally; though I probably wouldn't 'bet the whole farm', the most likely (currently) candidate would be Weightless, as it is the 'least proprietary' UNB model. Sort of the 'VHS' of the current crop. LoRaWAN is possibly the 'better' technology but so was "Beta Max" and "Video2000".

But other than that, and I have not been, nor probably will be, involved in specifying or implementing "large scale IoT" networks, consulting a "crystal ball" or "casting the chicken bones" could be just as reliable as anyone's guess at this point in time.

Chris.

Indifference will be the downfall of mankind, but who cares?
Time flies like an arrow, however, fruit flies like a banana.

Never mind this jesus character, stars had to die for me to live.
