How do you remove W32/ Pate.b virus

Hello,
I just Installed McAfee Version 6.0 in my win XP pro system and it immediately found the W32/Pate.b virus in the system. Although it gave me the option to clean the files it tells me that the files can't be cleaned and that they have to be deleted and replaced with back ups. Can someone tell me how I can just get rid of the virus and clean my documents, pictures, and music without having to get rid of them. I have no back ups for these files.

Make sure you have the latest Engine and Dat file to go with your Virus Scan. McAfee should be able to remove it but might be having trouble with the copies in System Restore.
