I've just built a new server based on a V240, this has four internal disks, after everything was built the DBA's decide they need about 10GB more than they have and the only way is to reduce the /opt partition.

The drives are all under Veritas control, so I tried converting the /opt filesystem to VxFs thinking I could then shrink it but no go as I'm unable to unmount the /opt filesystem, so now it looks as if I might have to rebuild unless theres someway to remove the boot disk ( which has /opt also) from Veritas control and then resize the /opt slice.

Any ideas how I can do this ?

The box doesn't have a CD drive, but I was able to create another volume called opt2 copy all the files over and then mount opt2 as /opt and delete the old volume.

That, of course, was my very next suggestion ;-)

Well done - I take it all's well now.
