I had a domain controller crash yesterday and I was not able to demote out of the domain before it happen. I know I need to remove the domain controller "DC1" out of the domain. I believe the tool to use is adsi edit.

The Questions I am asking is what is the correct tool to use and is there a white paper or set of instruction to use it.

ntdsutil is the tool for this job. microsoft has a white paper on the subject that is straight to the point.
