OK, thought I'd asked this before, but can't find it anywhere here.

Arcserve 7/Netware 5.1 ---

Say you delete a bunch of directories from a volume. The Arcserve rotation backup keeps trying to backup these non-existant directories. Opening the job up for modification, expanding the volumes, it still shows the old deleted directories.

How do I get the job updated to reflect the present contents of the directory?

When you exclude files/folders from a backup, Arcserve takes a snap shot of the disks as they stand and always tries to backup only those files.

To prevent this, select the drives you want to backup from the root, ie c:\, d:\ etc and don't deselect any files of folders. To exclude files/folders you don't want to backup, use a filter by clicking on the filter toolbar button.

When you set your job up like this Arcserve will backup everything on the disk even when files are added and deleted, except where something is excluded with a filter.

You say "When you set you job up like this". Does that mean that it has to be done when the job is first set up or can I go back and modify it?

You can go back and modify your job, but you must select the entire drive from the root.
